The Revolutionary War, also known as the American War of Independence, started in 1775 and ended in 1783. It lasted for a total of 8 years. Some of the major battles fought during the war include the Battle of Bunker Hill, the Battle of Saratoga, and the Battle of Yorktown. These battles were crucial in determining the outcome of the war and ultimately led to the victory of the American forces over the British.

“Are you a Loyalist or a Rebel?” About an hour ago, Mr. Goodsington was here at my door asking, “Are you a Patriot or a Torie?” I told Mr. Breckton the same thing I told Goodsington.

“I’m a father, a husband, and a farmer; leave me be.”

He says, “There is to be a day when one will be forced to choose. Mark my words.”

“Well, that is not this day, so move along before my patience is worn bare.”

That was near the end of the harvest in 1775.

“Today is, I believe, the 19th of October 1781, and I, Johnathan Bradley Crabtree, am writing this on the only paper I have, in my own blood, as blood is the only thing resembling ink I have. The blood is plentiful; if not mine, then that of the two loyalists I have just dispatched is also readily available.
